Honors & Awards

Treat other people with the concern and kindness you would like them to show toward you.

This saying has come to be called the Golden Rule. I live by this and teach my children to abide by this very rule.

I also practice this in my professional life by giving back in whatever ways I can. I’ve been on the Board of Directors with the American Red Cross, where I was elected as a Keynote speaker, nominated as Co-Chair for an annual gala, and received a “Volunteer of the Year” award.

Outside of the Red Cross, I have given back through employers with nonprofit groups, Carolina Tiger Rescue and Rise Against Hunger.

Below you will see a snippet of my incredible experiences with these amazing organizations.

Red Cross Volunteer Award

I served as a board member on the Board of Directors of the Triangle Chapter of the American Red Cross from 2008-2013.

My role involved attending monthly meetings where other board members convened to discuss the community's needs. I also served on other sub-committees, such as the Donor Relations Committee and the Philanthropy Committee. In 2012 I was elected to serve as Co-Chair of the Annual Gala Committee, which was directly responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the 2012 Annual Red Cross Ball. The ball is the largest annual event the Red Cross holds, and over $150K was raised with sponsor donations, auction proceeds, and in-kind donations. I was also awarded the Volunteer Award in 2012.

Starting in 2008, I developed a relationship with executives with Fox Broadcasting which resulted in acquiring highly coveted tickets (not for sale to the public) for the American Idol Finale in Hollywood, CA from Fox, which have been featured in the live auction each year.
